Anyway, I really wanted to tell you about my super awesome weekend home alone. Cue the De la Soul. So, the Mister left town for the weekend to visit family and graciously give me some space. He works from home which makes it quite rare that I'm ever home alone. EVER. It was awesome. I was like Macaulay Culkin on crack. Here's the random rundown of weekend wanderings, discoveries and creations all of which made me happy as a clam.
Saturday Morning
Early morning wake-up followed by a 7 mile-run in the sweet town of Davidson. If you haven't been there for a coffee at Summit Coffee House or an old-school milkshake at The Soda Shop, you must go. The town is so darn charming. I run there often and get the same feel good vibe each and every time.
Card-making 101: Got a chance to hang with an artist friend of mine for a couple hours and play with a ridiculous amount of stamps, card stock, die cuts and a killer embossing machine Yum!
Cat Nap: I consider myself one of the lucky people on this planet who can actually fall asleep for 20 minutes and press on with my day. Ain't no shame in my game!
NODA All Arts Market: I've missed out on the last arts market so I was excited to go meander about this one. I ran into my prolific button-making buddy, Nikki Mueller, of the one-woman shop Not Made in China. She makes stylish buttons, magnets and pocket mirrors galore (and now totebags!) with clever, city-specific quips that'll make you laugh and want to buy a bazillion for you and your friends. She's also the mastermind who so graciously designed the header for The SunnysideUp. Love her!
On Sunday, I opened up all my windows, burned copious amounts of incense, placed my Pandora station to Shins Radio and commenced to cleaning the hell out of my house. Without the Mister around, I am somehow given superhuman powers and motivation to delight in the joys of cleaning house.
Sunday afternoon, I made a t-shirt for the heck of it with one of my new mantras. Check it out...
The Mister was due back late Sunday afternoon and since I was feeling all domestic after my weekend alone, I sought guidance from another domestic goddess for dinner that night. I made this awesome and easy recipe from the Barefoot Contessa whose charmed life I often try to recreate within my tiny kitchen.
All in all, I had a super weekend with me, myself and I. It had all the perfect components-art, creativity, the outdoors, peace and quiet and, of course, naps. Having someone to snuggle with on Sunday night, however, wasn't so bad either.
Thanks for reading my late-ish post. Hope you have a happy week!
